Hi there, and welcome to my new blog.

My name is Craig Anderson, I work as a reference librarian in the great state of New Jersey, and I am a dyed-in-the-wool skeptic.

I’ve been interested in skepticism/atheism/freethinking for about 10 years, and during those years, I’ve always had the nagging feeling that I was just not doing enough for the community.  I’ve never been to any skeptic events, I don’t subscribe to Skeptic magazine, and I’ve never even MET Rebecca Watson.  So I’ve decided to start a simple little unassuming blog, as a place to put my skeptical thoughts and ramblings and force myself to become more involved in the community.  It’s really the very least that I can do. 🙂

When creating this blog, I was very surprised that there wasn’t already a JerseySkeptic web site/blog/page.  I do know that there’s a Drinking Skeptically group in New Brunswick, but I have yet to be able to make it to any of their meetings. 😦 I’d really love to meet more of my fellow Garden State skeptics. I feel that we need more skeptics in New Jersey, especially since we have our very own cryptid (the Jersey Devil) as well as a variety of ghosts and other strange happenings.

I’m hoping to fill this blog with a mixture of posts and video entries, and possibly some amateur investigation of my own! Feel free to rant and rave in the comments, but bear in mind that I’m not attacking anybody.  I believe in the marketplace of ideas, and I thrive on spirited discourse, but I genuinely like people.  Someone can be an awesome, intelligent, educated, well-meaning person, and yet still disagree with me. So please don’t think that I’m ever attacking you.

Other than that, welcome to my blog, and I hope you enjoy your stay! 😀
